Reconditioned in 1947 after war service.
For a time it was thought that she would be given the name Empress of India. However this contemplated name change did not take place and instead was renamed Empress of France.
Re-entered the Liverpool-Quebec-Montreal service on September 1, 1948.
New modern funnels installed in 1958.
Scrapped in 1961.
Ex-Duchess of Bedford (1948).
